Israeli Media: Heated Debate in 'Cabinet' Meeting Supporting Zamer Partial Deal

SadaNews - Israeli channels, including 12, 13, and Kan 11, confirmed that the "Cabinet" ministerial council witnessed a very intense discussion in its last session, with tensions rising after Chief of Staff Eyal Zamer spoke about a partial deal. Ministers directed accusations at him, but he did not remain silent and responded to them. Political correspondent on Kan 11, Gili Cohen, revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ministers and security officials during the discussion, "The partial deal is not on the agenda right now," to which the Chief of Staff responded: "Think about making a decision; we have a deal on the table." Channel 12 reported Netanyahu saying during the discussion, "President Donald Trump said: Leave the partial deals, then divide (Gaza) into small areas and enter forcefully to finish the matter." For her part, political correspondent on Channel 13, Mirna Asraf Wolberg, stated that the Chief of Staff responded to government secretary Yossi Fox when he recited to the ministers the reasons that necessitate action to what he described as defeating Hamas. The Chief of Staff responded during the meeting, saying: "Wake up, Eliyahu... You are the government of 7 October, and now you remember to talk about defeating the Islamic Resistance Movement 'Hamas'. Where were you on the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th... now you remember this after two years." According to Nitzan Tibon, a former northern corps commander, the Chief of Staff and security leaders laid the facts on the ground, noting in a discussion on Channel 13 that there is a deal on the table that could return live prisoners. Meanwhile, Yitzhak Brik, a former southern corps commander and military academies head, criticized Netanyahu, describing his actions as terrible and bad. He said, "The only way to solve the problem has long been possible, which is the comprehensive deal." He added, "They will not be able to defeat Hamas, and our problem is doubled because Hamas today exists in hundreds of kilometers of tunnels," and reminded that "Israel has destroyed less than 10% of the tunnels, despite the army initially claiming it had destroyed 70%, then later revised to 24%." Roni Rahav, head of the 'Rahav' media and public relations company, also called for the Israeli army to withdraw from Gaza, saying to Channel 12, "We cannot accept the continued loss of lives as happened with the 'Khmer Rouge' in Vietnam and Cambodia, and we cannot become like South Africa, which prevented its airlines from landing in any European country."
