Settlers Take Over a House in the Old Municipality of Hebron
SadaNews - The Municipality of Hebron condemned today, Wednesday, the actions of groups of settlers, protected by the Israeli occupation forces, who seized a house adjacent to the old municipal building in the heart of the old city of Hebron, and held a provocative celebration in the municipality square.
In a statement on Wednesday, the municipality considered this crime part of a systematic policy to judaize the old city and impose a new reality on the ground, through assaults on citizens' properties and the closure of main streets in the Zahda and Shalalah areas and others, constituting a flagrant violation of international laws and norms.
The municipality affirmed that it will continue its legal procedures to protect the cultural and historical heritage of the city, stressing that these practices will not deter the city's residents from clinging to their land and homes. It called on international and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to put an end to these escalating violations and ensure the protection of the residents of the old city and their historical properties.
A group of armed settlers had stormed, on Tuesday evening, protected by occupation forces, a house belonging to the Nasr family in the old city, seized it, and brought furniture inside.
