Israeli soldier killed, 9 injured, and 4 missing in resistance ambushes in Gaza
SadaNews - Israeli media reported the death of at least one soldier and injuries to 9 others last night during operations carried out by Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip. Israeli media added that the fear is growing among the occupation army about at least 4 soldiers falling into the hands of Hamas fighters, stating that extensive search operations for them are still ongoing. Israeli sources mentioned that there were "difficult security events" occurring separately within a short time frame, indicating that one of them took place in the Zeitoun neighborhood east of Gaza City and is still ongoing. They stated that Hamas fighters monitored Israeli forces using night vision optics, and added that the army is deploying more forces amid violent clashes. They continued that Israeli helicopters are working to evacuate soldiers under heavy gunfire. Minutes after reports of the first "security event" described as difficult (east of Gaza City), Israeli sources reported two other difficult events resulting in the injury of several soldiers. Israeli media, according to Sada News follow-up, stated that fierce clashes are taking place at the main "security event" site, indicating that fighter jets are intensively entering the airspace of the Gaza Strip. According to some reports, an Israeli rescue unit was ambushed while attempting to evacuate soldiers from the site of the first operation. Israeli media also reported the activation of the "Hannibal Protocol," designated for cases of suspected capture of occupation soldiers. For its part, press sources reported that Israeli fighter jets are flying at low altitudes amid artillery bombardment east of Gaza City. The sources stated, according to Sada News follow-up, that simultaneously with the clashes, the artillery of the occupation army shelled the Zeitoun and Sabra neighborhoods in Gaza City and Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip. The news of the Israeli army suffering casualties comes hours after the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced a series of military operations they carried out against occupation forces and their vehicles in recent days. It also follows the warning from Abu Obeida (spokesman for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades) that the occupation forces would pay a heavy price if they attempted to invade Gaza City.
