Palestinian Presidency: Delivery of a New Batch of Weapons from the Camps to the Lebanese Army
SadaNews - The official spokesperson for the presidency, Nabil Abu Rudainah, stated that the Palestinian authorities in Lebanon handed over the second batch of weapons belonging to the Palestine Liberation Organization located in the Palestinian camps in Lebanon, namely the Rashidiya, Baddawi, and Al-Burj Al-Shimali camps, to the Lebanese Army as a trust (deposit), this Thursday, with plans to continue the delivery operations to the remaining camps subsequently.
Abu Rudainah added that this action came based on the presidential statement issued by the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and the Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun on May 21st, last year.
He explained that both sides agreed to establish a joint Lebanese-Palestinian committee to follow up on the conditions of the Palestinian camps in Lebanon and work to improve the living and humanitarian conditions for the refugees, while respecting Lebanese sovereignty and adhering to Lebanese laws.
Abu Rudainah noted that both sides confirmed their commitment to provide the human, social, and economic rights of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, ensuring them a dignified life without infringing on their right of return or affecting their national identity.
He emphasized that both sides stress their commitment to the principle of exclusive possession of arms by the Lebanese state across its entire territory, and the need to end any manifestations contrary to that, as well as the importance of respecting Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
