White House Official: Trump's Meeting on Gaza is "Just a Political Meeting"

SadaNews: A senior official at the White House stated that President Donald Trump chaired a meeting on Wednesday regarding the war in Gaza, attended by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Trump’s former Middle East envoy, Jared Kushner.

The official told Reuters that Trump, along with senior White House officials, Blair, and Kushner, discussed all aspects of the Gaza file, including increasing the delivery of food aid, the hostage crisis, and post-war plans.

The official described the session as "just a political meeting," of the type that Trump and his team hold regularly.

Hamas preempted this meeting by accusing the US administration of bias towards Israel.

A senior Hamas leader, Ezzat al-Rashq, expressed the movement’s "surprise" at statements made by Whitkoff recently, in which he held Hamas responsible for hindering ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

Al-Rashq stated, "These positions can only be understood in the context of American bias towards the fascist occupation, and the cover provided by the US administration to the war criminal Netanyahu to enable him to continue his genocide against innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip."

US Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff had offered a glimpse into the meeting during an appearance on the program "Special Reports with Bret Baier" on Fox News on Tuesday.

Whitkoff said, "It’s a very comprehensive plan that we are putting together about the day after (in Gaza), and many will see how effective and well-intentioned it is, as it also reflects President Trump’s humanitarian motives."

Another White House official stated, "President Trump has made clear his desire to end the war and wants peace and prosperity for everyone in the region. The White House does not have any additional information to share regarding the meeting at this time."
