Saudi Arabia Calls for Urgent International Intervention to End Famine in Gaza and Stop Genocide

SadaNews - Saudi Arabia has called on the international community, particularly the permanent member states of the Security Council, for immediate intervention to end the famine in the Gaza Strip and to halt the grave crimes and violations committed by the Israeli army against Palestinian civilians, emphasizing that the continuation of these crimes without accountability undermines the rules of international law and threatens security and stability at both regional and global levels.

The Saudi Cabinet session, held on Tuesday in Jeddah and chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, discussed the latest political and humanitarian developments in the region, primarily the Palestinian issue.

The council affirmed the Kingdom's support for the outcomes of the extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which took place in Jeddah to discuss the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip, noting the importance of coordinating positions and efforts to stop the genocide and to confront schemes aimed at entrenching the occupation and imposing complete control over the region.

The council also expressed the Kingdom's strong condemnation of the continued Israeli incursions into Syrian territory and interference in its internal affairs, reaffirming support for the Syrian government in taking what it deems necessary to preserve security and stability and the sovereignty of state institutions, rejecting any separatist calls that threaten the unity of this brotherly nation.

Regarding the Sudanese file, the Cabinet renewed its call for all parties to implement the provisions of the "Jeddah Declaration" signed in May 2023 and to commit to protecting civilians and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, with a focus on prioritizing the interests of the Sudanese people and shielding them from further deterioration and suffering.

At the beginning of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the council members on the content of a message he received from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, regarding the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in various fields. The council also reviewed the results of the meeting that brought together Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman with the Egyptian president, along with the details of a phone call made by the Crown Prince with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which discussed the Kingdom's efforts in supporting global peace and its role in solidifying dialogue as a means to resolve international crises.

On the domestic front, the Cabinet noted the ongoing efforts exerted by the Kingdom to serve the pilgrims, welcoming the increasing numbers this year, and emphasizing that the Kingdom continues to harness its capabilities and potential to ensure the comfort of the guests of Allah from their arrival until their departure.
