Oman Condemns Attacks by Settlers on Jordanian Aid Trucks to Gaza
SadaNews: The government spokesperson and Minister of Government Communication, Muhammad Al-Momani, condemned on Monday the ongoing attacks by Israeli settlers on Jordanian trucks carrying aid to the people in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Momani stated that a number of settlers attempted last night, Sunday, to obstruct the humanitarian aid convoy consisting of 59 trucks, which later managed to cross into Gaza.
He noted that the attacks included 4 trucks that were subjected to assault and stoning, resulting in the shattering of their front glass windows, as well as slashing tires and breaking some front and side parts of those trucks.
Al-Momani held the Israeli authorities responsible for these actions for not restraining such behavior, emphasizing that there is leniency in controlling these acts which endanger the safety of the drivers, hinder humanitarian work, and constitute a violation of international treaties and agreements in place.
The minister concluded his remarks by stating that the efforts of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization in sending aid to the people in Gaza continue to face fabricated obstacles, including the requirement of submitting an electronic request for the transfer of aid and limiting the inspection process to a short time during working hours at the crossings, along with imposing newly introduced customs, which raises the time required to deliver aid from two hours to about 36 hours.
