Zamir: We Created Conditions for the Release of Hostages and the Second Phase of 'Gideon's Chariots' is Underway

SadaNews - Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, during a visit he made today, Sunday, to the navy, stated that Israel is engaged in a multi-front war at sea, in the air, and on land, adding, "We are at the beginning of the second phase of the 'Gideon's Chariots' operation, and we have achieved the three objectives of the operation, dealt deep blows to Hamas, pushed threats away from the borders and towns, and created conditions for the release of the hostages due to military pressure. "

He added, "In turn, we are working thousands of kilometers away from our borders, and there are threats from every front and in every dimension, and we must work continuously to weaken and thwart them."

During his visit, Zamir discussed the challenges of leadership in the naval front, and he was presented with lessons learned from the war, in addition to an overview of combat means and the capabilities of the submarine unit.

He stated that "the army continues to prepare for expanding operations with a focus on the city of Gaza, and the navy must be ready for defense and offensive support for ground forces," adding that "the battle is ongoing and we will continue to work until achieving all war objectives and enhancing security and victory."

Zamir continued, "The navy has significantly strengthened during the war, and it is performing a series of vital tasks and defending Israel's maritime borders and protecting its strategic assets. The close cooperation between the naval and ground forces through the use of precise fires and effectiveness constitutes a multiplying force in combat, and we will continue to enhance its capabilities as a long-term arm for operations in the strategic depth."

He noted that the navy carried out during the war "covert and vital operations for the security of the state throughout the Middle East," considering that the "deception and strength" it demonstrated "surprised the enemy and caused severe damage to its capabilities."
