Audio Leaks Reveal Netanyahu Was Aware of Everything Before the October 7 Attack
SadaNews - The former head of the Israeli intelligence service (Aman), Aharon Haliva, revealed in new audio leaks published by Channel 12 that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was indeed aware that a war could break out before October 7, 2023, and that he received a strategic warning about it.
The audio leaks contained a series of harsh acknowledgments and descriptions about the management of the war after October 7, holding the government leadership - led by Netanyahu - directly responsible.
Haliva stated that during the period of protests against judicial amendments, he spoke before the Knesset about the threats of war, explaining the strategic fears facing Israel and the possibility of conflict amid the fragmentation of the elites and the Israeli society.
He clarified that intelligence information was flowing directly to the Prime Minister's Office and the leadership of the security branches, to the extent that no one could claim they were unaware, saying, "Every piece of information from the intelligence service reaches continuously to the Prime Minister, the head of the Mossad, and the head of the Shabak, everything is published and flowing."
However, Haliva noted that Netanyahu shied away from the regular meetings that were customary to be held weekly between him and the director of intelligence, stating, "In the past, he would meet with the head of intelligence once a week, then it decreased to once a month, and after that once every two months, and the reason is that he does not want to hear what he does not like,” as he expressed.
“Aware of Everything”
Haliva confirmed that Netanyahu was aware of everything, saying, "The Prime Minister sat in the rooms and faced all estimates with shouting and arguing, everything is documented in official research messages containing clear strategic warnings, and yet no action was taken."
He added, "In a normal country, for events much less than this event, officials would resign and go home, but here we live in a reality where everything is allowed, look at how families of the prisoners are treated, and how people are treated overall, and what is happening in the country, as if you are in a state of perpetual shock."
Despite the repeated talks and accusations from the Israeli military leadership regarding informing Netanyahu in advance and warning him before the October 7 attack, he has denied this several times.
Haliva is a major general in the Israeli army, born in Haifa in 1967, and joined the paratroopers battalion in 1985, rising through the ranks until he became the head of military intelligence in 2021.
On April 22, 2024, the Israeli army announced Haliva's resignation, marking him as the first high-ranking officer to officially resign from his post in the wake of the failures to counter the October 7, 2023 attack.
