Egypt warns of the repercussions of the occupation's plan to control the city of Gaza.
SadaNews - The Arab Republic of Egypt warned today, Thursday, of the repercussions of the occupation's plan to control the city of Gaza.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that Egypt is "deeply concerned" about the Israeli government's continued implementation of an attack plan by Israeli occupation forces targeting the control of cities in the Gaza Strip, in a new attempt to entrench its illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, and in blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
It expressed "its strong disapproval of Israeli escalation policies and the expansion of its occupation of Palestinian territories, whether in the West Bank or the Gaza Strip, and the ongoing systematic crimes against innocent civilians, and the continued planning to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land, which leads to aggravating the already tense situation, reflecting Israel's complete disregard for the efforts of mediators and the proposed deal for a ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and the flow of humanitarian aid, and the international calls to end the war and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people after nearly two years of steadfastness against flagrant Israeli violations."
Egypt also warned that "the approach of arrogance and power, and the persistence in violating international law to serve narrow political interests or unfounded beliefs, represent a grave error in judgment, resulting from the retreat and weakness of the international justice system, and will lead to further escalation in the region, with severe consequences for relations among the peoples of the region, as well as for regional and international security and peace for many years to come."
Egypt called on the international community to urgently intervene to put an end to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and to stop the crimes being committed against innocent Palestinian civilians in the sector, and also urged the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security to prevent further deterioration of the situation in the region and the exacerbation of instability in the Middle East due to unprecedented and brazen Israeli violations of laws and international norms.
