Italy Condemns the Colonial Plan (E1) and Considers it a Violation of International Law

SadaNews - Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation forces to proceed with their illegal colonial plan, E1.

He clarified in a post on the X platform that this decision fundamentally threatens the two-state solution and violates international law.

Tajani urged the Israeli occupation not to take any steps that would undermine the two-state solution.

Yesterday, the Israeli occupation authorities approved a colonial construction plan in the E1 area east of Jerusalem, which includes the construction of more than 3,401 housing units, in addition to establishing a new settlement named "Eshahul," which consists of 342 colonial units and public buildings.

The "Peace Now" movement indicated that the approval for colonial construction in E1 was carried out extremely quickly and considered the plan "particularly lethal to the prospects for peace and to the future of two states for two peoples, as it divides the West Bank into two parts."

Last week, the Finance Minister in the extremist occupation government, Bezalel Smotrich, announced that the colonial plan in "E1" effectively connects the Ma'ale Adumim colony with Jerusalem, cutting off communication between Ramallah and Bethlehem, and is viewed as the final nail in the coffin of the Palestinian state idea.

"Peace Now" confirmed that the E1 plan joins thousands of colonial units that the occupation government authorized this year, aiming to prevent the two-state solution.

The movement added that since the beginning of 2025, the occupation authorities have pushed forward plans to build 24,338 colonial units, including the E1 plan.
