Ben Gvir Punishes Prisoners by Forcing Them to Watch Images of Destruction in Gaza (Video)

SadaNews - Today, Wednesday, the Minister of National Security in the extremist occupying government, Itamar Ben Gvir, took a new retaliatory step against Palestinian prisoners by hanging images of the destruction caused by the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip on the walls of prisons, forcing them to see these images as a punitive measure.

A circulated video clip shows Ben Gvir during his visit to one of the Israeli prisons, pointing to the hanging images of destruction on the walls, stating: "This is what the prisoners should see every day."

Israeli journalist Yinon Magal posted a video on the American platform "X" documenting the visit, showing Ben Gvir pointing to the images of destruction on the wall, saying: "Look at this? This is what they (the prisoners) should see every morning on their way to the prison yard."

The Israeli minister added: "This is what they should see, perhaps each one of them will see their home here."

This move comes days after Ben Gvir stormed the cell of the prominent Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti in Ramon prison, where he threatened him, saying: "Whoever kills our children or women, we will erase him, you will not triumph over us."

Hebrew media outlets, including the newspaper "Haaretz", aired a video that shows the far-right minister directing his threats towards Barghouti, who has been detained since 2002.

This provocative step has provoked widespread condemnations amidst fears for Barghouti's life, as he appeared in the footage in a weak state and with deteriorating health.

Since Ben Gvir assumed his role as Minister of National Security at the end of 2022, the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons have notably deteriorated, with a significant decrease in their weights as a result of the policies implemented in the prisons.

According to previous data published by the Prisoners' Club, the number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons reached 10,800 by early August, including 49 female prisoners and 450 children, and 2,378 detainees classified as "unlawful combatants."
