Whittaker: Trump Wants to End the Conflict in Gaza Immediately
SadaNews - U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Whittaker stated that President Donald Trump wants to end the conflict in Gaza immediately.
Whittaker emphasized in an interview with Fox News the necessity of returning Israeli hostages, releasing Palestinian prisoners, and rebuilding Gaza.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid Al-Ansari noted that the latest proposed ceasefire in Gaza, which was accepted by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), "almost matches" a previous plan put forward by Whittaker that was accepted by Israel.
Al-Ansari clarified in a press conference in Doha that the proposal accepted by Hamas includes a pathway to a permanent ceasefire and "is the best that can be offered at the moment" to preserve civilian lives in Gaza.
He pointed out that mediators are awaiting a response from Israel regarding the proposal, adding, "There is no timeline for the response, but we have heard that Israel is considering it and we hope for a quick and positive reply."
He stated that Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is in contact with Whittaker, and "there is a positive atmosphere" regarding the negotiations.
