The Israeli Army Officially Announces the Start of a Military Operation in the Al-Zeitoun Neighborhood of Gaza
SadaNews - The Israeli occupying army announced today, Friday, August 15, 2025, that the 99th Division has begun a military operation in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood southeast of Gaza City.
The army stated that "Nahal Brigade and the 7th Brigade are working to uncover explosive devices, eliminate militants, and destroy infrastructure," according to their claims.
In recent days, the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood has witnessed intensified Israeli military escalation, with occupation forces carrying out five consecutive demolition operations on buildings within minutes this morning.
According to field data, military operations have been concentrated in the neighborhood for a week, starting from the Al-Bar‘asi area behind the halls, reaching the vicinity of Hassan Al-Banna Mosque, Ali Mosque, and the Mselbeh area, where Israeli machinery is conducting extensive digging and leveling works.
The occupation army has also resorted to using explosive robots to detonate citizens' homes in the vicinity of Ali Mosque and Mselbeh extensively, while warplanes launched airstrikes on dozens of homes in the Sabra and Al-Zeitoun neighborhoods, specifically targeting high-rise buildings.
Local sources reported that the occupation has committed several massacres in the area, resulting in dozens of martyrs, many of whom remain under the rubble due to the difficulty of rescue operations amid ongoing bombings.
According to the Civil Defense in Gaza, the attacks resulted in the destruction of 300 homes in just three days in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, following the approval of Israeli army chief of staff Eyal Zamir on the central plan to occupy the entire sector, which began on Tuesday.
