The Press House in Mali Condemns the Assassination of Journalist Anas Al-Sharif Alongside His Colleagues in Gaza
SadaNews - All professional media associations and organizations in Mali have strongly condemned the Israeli armed forces for killing journalists Anas Al-Sharif and Muhammad Qariq'a by directly targeting their tent set up in front of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.
The statement said: "Al Jazeera reporters were merely performing their journalistic duties. This targeted attack is a flagrant violation of international mandates that ensure the protection of journalists in carrying out their professional activities."
It continued: "We express our solidarity with the families of the slain journalists and with all journalists in Gaza, and we call for the protection of journalists during their media activities."
The statement added: "We urge countries and all human rights defenders to work together to provide physical protection for journalists and to respect freedom of expression and the press worldwide, especially in conflict areas."
