Maariv: Political Leadership Urges Israeli Army to Act Swiftly and Forcefully in Gaza
SadaNews - The Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" reported from Israeli military sources that the political leadership is urging the army to take swift and forceful action using heavy fire and large forces in the Gaza Strip, following the approval of a plan to fully occupy the Palestinian territory.
The Israeli newspaper indicated - according to military sources - that the army's timeline regarding the operational plan in Gaza does not meet the expectations of the political leadership.
It reported estimates from the army that thousands of reservists are expected to receive emergency call-up orders in the coming days.
Last Friday, the Israeli security cabinet (the security cabinet) approved a plan proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to completely reoccupy the Gaza Strip, which sparked internal protests by organizers who viewed the launch of this operation as a death sentence for the prisoners held in Gaza.
Following this, media reports showed disagreements between Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and Netanyahu, with the former describing that step as a strategic trap.
This plan begins with the occupation of Gaza City by relocating around a million citizens to the south, then surrounding the city and carrying out incursions into residential areas.
The second phase includes the occupation of the refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip, which Israel has largely destroyed, amid a continuous war since October 7, 2023.
In contrast, Zamir proposes a containment plan involving several axes in Gaza, aimed at exerting military pressure on Hamas to force it to release prisoners, without falling into strategic traps.
With U.S. support, Israel has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which includes killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop.
The Israeli genocide war has left 61,722 martyrs and 154,525 injured among Palestinians, most of them children and women, with over 9,000 missing, and hundreds of thousands displaced, along with a famine that has claimed the lives of 235 people, including 106 children.
