Egyptian Journalists Syndicate Decides to Award Palestinian Press Martyrs the Press Freedom Award for 2025
SadaNews - The Board of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate decided today, Wednesday, to award the Palestinian press martyrs the Press Freedom Award for this year and to name a number of them after some of the Egyptian journalism awards presented by the syndicate.
The board called upon the Arab and International Federations of Journalists and all Arab and international syndicates to submit a joint official memorandum to the International Criminal Court against the war criminals in the occupying state, aiming to hold them accountable for the crimes against the Palestinian people and Palestinian journalism.
During the meeting chaired by the syndicate's head, Khaled Belshy, the council considered that the crimes against Palestinian journalists are a new chapter in a brutal series of media genocide and represent the largest crime of its kind in modern history, with the number of martyrs among journalists exceeding 230.
The council affirmed that the occupying army's acknowledgment of targeting journalists embodies the brutality of the occupation and an attempt to obscure the truth, stressing that these systematic crimes clearly aim to silence the voice of truth and prevent the world from witnessing the scale of the atrocities committed by the occupation.
