This is How Putin's Security Measures Will Be in Alaska
SadaNews - President Vladimir Putin's security will be ensured during his presence in Alaska on August 15, thanks to his personal guard and a group from the U.S. Secret Service.
This was reported to TASS correspondent by Robert MacDonald, a former senior officer of the U.S. Secret Service.
The former officer noted that upon arriving in the United States, President Putin will receive regular personal protection from his Russian accompanying personnel, in addition to personal security from the U.S. Secret Service.
MacDonald emphasized that the political climate and political disputes never interfere with the work of the security agencies of state leaders. He cited the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York as an example, where high-level officials from 150 to 180 countries gather, some allied with Washington and others not supporting it. Nevertheless, there is successful cooperation between national security officials from all these countries and the U.S. Secret Service. Everyone demonstrates a high level of professional expertise in law enforcement and protection, doing everything possible to ensure the complete security of their leaders.
MacDonald stated that he accompanied former President George W. Bush during his visits to Russia and other countries while serving in the agency. He added: "I was the agent responsible for [Bush's] security at the Astoria Hotel in St. Petersburg."
He noted that he worked closely with his colleagues from the Russian special services at that time. MacDonald said: "We developed a professional relationship and worked in harmony throughout the week."
According to him, there are professional relationships during on-ground work between members of the relevant security bodies. Collaborative efforts are usually very effective and in complete agreement.
MacDonald confirmed that the Secret Service, which has been operating in recent years under the supervision of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, primarily provides protection for the nation's top leadership and foreign leaders on U.S. soil.
Earlier, CNN reported, citing White House officials, that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump will take place at the "Elmendorf Richardson" base in Anchorage, Alaska.
