Veterinary Association Warns Against Studying Veterinary Medicine for Students with Below 80% Starting from 2025
SadaNews: The Veterinary Doctors Association - Jerusalem Center, issued an awareness statement for the parents of students in the General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi), warning against studying veterinary medicine for those with a score below 80% starting from the Tawjihi class of 2025.
The statement mentioned: "Starting from the 2025 Tawjihi graduates, no Bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine will be recognized - whether from a local or foreign university - if the student's score in the general secondary education is less than 80% (in the scientific or agricultural branch)."
The statement added: "This means that a student who begins studying veterinary medicine with a score below 80% will not be able to obtain a license to practice the profession within Palestine, which makes their degree scientifically worthless in the local job market and jeopardizes their professional future."
The statement said that the aim of this decision is to "protect the veterinary profession and enhance the efficiency of those working in it, as befits the importance of this profession in safeguarding the health of humans and animals alike."
It added: "This is a necessary reform step to regulate educational inputs, achieve professional justice, and protect the labor market from overcrowding and deception."
The statement continued: "Moreover, it protects our children from entering a field with no clear professional future, just because some universities - unfortunately - may tempt them with admission despite knowing in advance the limitations of their opportunities to practice."
"From the heart, we urge you: Take your time, verify, and ensure that the decision you make today regarding your son or daughter's major will determine the contours of their entire future. Do not push your children into a specialty that will close its doors before they open. Do not let their joy today be replaced tomorrow with disappointment due to university promises that are not built on responsibility."
