Netanyahu: We will control the Gaza Strip but will not govern it
SadaNews Translation - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday evening that Israel intends to militarily control the entire Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu claimed in an interview with Fox News, as translated by SadaNews, that this move aims to liberate the civilian population of Gaza from "Hamas," retrieve hostages, dismantle "Hamas," and transfer governance to an alternative entity.
He added: "We do not want to retain the strip nor do we want to govern it; rather, we want to bring in Arab forces to govern it without threatening our security, which is not possible with Hamas."
Prior to this, he told Indian media that he has a plan that entails not annexing land from Gaza and that governance of the strip would be handed over to an entity that manages it temporarily.
He stated: "The war could end tomorrow if Hamas lays down its arms and hands over the hostages to Israel unconditionally."
