660 Sports Martyrs Since the War Began.. The Martyrdom of Our Former Palestine National Team Star Suleiman Al-Obeid
SadaNews - On Wednesday, former Palestinian national team player Suleiman Al-Obeid was martyred by Israeli occupation bullets in Gaza City.
Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced that Al-Obeid (41 years old) was martyred while waiting to receive aid.
Captain Suleiman Al-Obeid will certainly not be the last player or athlete to fall victim to the ongoing crimes of the occupation and its daily massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip for over 22 months amid alarming international silence.
In the past month alone, thirty-nine athletes, scouts, and youth have been martyred, bringing the total number of martyrs among athletes, youth, and scout organizations to over 656 since the beginning of the genocide.
The martyr Al-Obeid had started his career at his home club, the Beach Services Club, and also played with Al-Ama'ri Club in the West Bank Premier League. He scored his first international goal with the Palestine national team against Yemen during the 2010 West Asian Football Federation Championship, and represented the team in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers and the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
