Red Cross: Ready to Provide Medicines and Food Supplies for Israeli Hostages and Palestinians in Gaza

SadaNews - The International Committee of the Red Cross stated on Tuesday evening that its teams are on standby to provide essential medicines and food supplies, in addition to relaying family news to the hostages held in Gaza.

It added in a statement: However, delivering this assistance depends on reaching an agreement between Israel and Hamas. Although the committee is engaged in ongoing dialogue with all concerned parties, it is not participating in any negotiations.

It noted that its teams are also preparing to expand the scope of safe delivery of lifesaving aid to civilians who are in urgent need throughout the Gaza Strip.

It stated: Humanitarian aid must be allowed to flow quickly and without obstruction, and its passage should be facilitated. As the severe food shortage worsens day by day, it is essential to enable civilians in Gaza to access food immediately and sustainably, along with clean drinking water, medical supplies, hygiene products, and other basic necessities that ensure survival and dignity.

It confirmed that it is also on standby to visit Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention facilities.

The statement added: The suffering endured by the hostages and their families, along with millions of Gaza residents who face daily struggles to secure their basic needs for survival, can only end through a lasting agreement between the parties involved.

It continued: The window of opportunity to save lives in Gaza is shrinking day by day. Urgent action is needed now.

The statement mentioned that the President of the International Committee, Mrs. Mirjana Spoljaric, spoke yesterday with Israeli President Isaac Herzog as part of efforts to secure access to humanitarian aid, ensure respect for international humanitarian law, and alleviate suffering in the region. These efforts also include facilitating the release of hostages and detainees, as well as ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches those who are in dire need.
