Hamas Publishes: They Eat What We Eat... Referring to Occupation Prisoners

SadaNews - The Al-Qassam Brigades broadcast new footage of an Israeli prisoner held in their custody, showing him in a frail condition, in a recording that reflects the reality experienced by prisoners in the Gaza Strip amid the hunger and siege imposed by the occupying forces.

The video began with a clip from previous Al-Qassam broadcasts about former prisoners, where the prisoner Ebitar David – who was then in good health – is seen watching the release of his colleagues, as part of the recent exchange deal.

The video footage displayed images of the prisoner looking extremely emaciated, in contrast to shots of children in Gaza visibly suffering from hunger due to the Israeli blockade and the lack of humanitarian aid, attempting to showcase the shared suffering of civilians and prisoners in the sector.

The clip also showed the prisoner looking at a chart indicating the number of days he has spent in captivity, in a scene suggesting a long ordeal and disconnection from the outside world, without uttering a single word.

The footage included archival clips of the Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir stating that what should be sent to Gaza are bombs, alongside a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the minimization of aid entry to the lowest possible.

In one shot, the prisoner is seen drinking water, while depicted opposite him is an image of a Palestinian child suffering from acute starvation due to the prohibition of baby formula into the sector.

The clip concluded with a written phrase saying: "They eat what we eat and drink what we drink," in a message indicating the treatment of prisoners within the lowest survival margins, equivalent to the living conditions of the besieged residents of Gaza.

This broadcast comes at a time when debate is escalating within Israel regarding the fate of the captive soldiers, with disagreement intensifying between their families and the government, which is under increasing pressure to finalize a new exchange deal to bring back the prisoners.

According to previous statements by the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida, Israeli prisoners will only be released as part of a comprehensive exchange deal, which the Israeli government has so far rejected, preferring military escalation to pressure Hamas.

The Al-Qassam Brigades had previously released several recordings of soldiers held in their custody, which included direct appeals to the Israeli government to save them, and warnings that military operations will not bring them back alive.

The video has provoked outrage within "Israeli" society due to the danger faced by their captives held in the Gaza Strip.

Former Israeli prisoner "Ohad Ben Ami" said: I watched the video of prisoner "Ebitar David" and I cried; hearts are broken, and the video reminds me that just half a year ago, you were shocked when you saw us emerging from the hell of Gaza like skeletons, adding: "What about the other prisoners left there? They are rotting underground, hungry and desperate."

He added: "The images and videos leave no room for doubt; prisoners do not have time left. These are not slogans, but the bitter truth... There is no time; the right decision must be made to bring all Israeli prisoners back now, in one deal."

Meanwhile, his sister said: "Seeing him in this physical condition felt like my heart received a million blows."
