Trump: Russia's actions in Ukraine are disgusting and we will punish it
SadaNews - Last night, U.S. President Donald Trump harshly criticized Russia's "disgusting" behavior towards Ukraine, stating that he intends to impose sanctions on Moscow if an agreement is not reached.
Trump added to reporters in the Oval Office that he is unsure whether the sanctions will deter Russia, according to Reuters.
He also mentioned that special envoy Steve Witkoff will visit Russia after his current trip to Israel. Witkoff has previously held extensive talks in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This comes after a Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv on Wednesday night resulted in the death of at least 16 people, including two children, and injured 155 others, including 16 children, according to the latest tally from emergency services.
The strikes destroyed parts of a 9-story residential building in western Kyiv.
It is noted that Moscow has intensified its aerial assaults on Ukraine in recent months, ignoring U.S. pressures to end the war that has been ongoing for nearly three and a half years, while its forces continue to make ground advancements, according to AFP.
Trump has given Putin until August 8 to reach an agreement to stop the fighting in Ukraine, otherwise he will impose economic sanctions.
