Despite Allowing Another Protest in Front of the Egyptian Embassy.. Israeli Police Suppress a Solidarity March with Gaza in Haifa

SadaNews - While the Israeli police allowed some protesters to demonstrate in front of the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv and provided them with protection from settler assaults, forces suppressed a march in Haifa for Palestinians in the interior and arrested several participants who condemned the ongoing aggression on Gaza and the escalating famine.

The occupation police arrested 14 protesters and assaulted others while they were participating in two protests in the city of Haifa on Thursday evening, condemning the policies of starvation and the ongoing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

According to the "Arabs 48" website, the police arrested 11 protesters from a demonstration organized in the Prisoner’s Square in the German neighborhood, and 3 others from a protest in the "Emil Habibi Roundabout" which was attended by activists who had been arrested in a previous protest and were prevented from participating in the first central demonstration.

Dozens of activists gathered in front of the police station in Haifa in solidarity with the detainees and to demand their release.

The protesters began their demonstration in the Prisoner’s Square silently to avoid giving the police a pretext to suppress the protest and carry out arrests and assaults against them.

The protesters beat empty metal containers in expression of their complete rejection of the starvation policies practiced by Israel in Gaza, while chanting and raising banners with slogans denouncing the war and images of the starving families of Gaza.

The visual artist, Rana Bashara, created an artwork during the protest expressing the famine in Gaza, accompanied by the sound of beating empty metal containers.
