Smotrich Demands Humanitarian Corridor for besieged Druze in Sweida
SadaNews - Israel's Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, emphasized the urgent need for Israel to demand a safe humanitarian corridor to deliver medicines, food supplies, and essential equipment to the besieged Druze in the Sweida province of southern Syria.
Smotrich's statements came during a meeting held at the operations room established by the Druze community in the town of Jolos, attended by the spiritual leader of the Druze community, Sheikh Moafaq Tarif, and the head of the Druze and Circassian Local Authorities Forum, Yaser Ghadban.
Smotrich pointed out that Israel must prepare militarily to defend the community members in Sweida and make the Syrian regime pay a "heavy price" if it continues its attacks on them, stressing that a firm stance would create an effective deterrent to prevent the recurrence of assaults, as he put it.
