SadaNews - The Kan Hebrew channel reported that 16 Israeli soldiers have committed suicide since the beginning of this year, including 8 in regular service, 7 reserve soldiers, and 1 in permanent service.
According to the numbers from the channel, the year 2024 witnessed the suicide of 21 soldiers, while 17 cases were recorded in 2023.
Since the outbreak of the war on October 7, approximately 3,770 soldiers have been classified as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorders, while more than half of the wounded, totaling 19,000, are receiving psychological treatments.
Military sources indicate that it cannot be definitively confirmed that there is an overall increase in the suicide rate; however, the data shows an increase in cases among reserve soldiers participating in combat operations.
