UN: Aerial Aid Drops Cannot Replace Ground Coordination in Gaza
SadaNews - The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs emphasized that aerial aid drops in the Gaza Strip cannot replace ground coordination.
Yesterday, Sunday, Jordanian and Emirati aircraft dropped food supplies in the Gaza Strip, while Israel announced a limited daily "tactical suspension" of its military operations for humanitarian purposes in several areas of the territory.
For its part, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated that opening all crossings and significantly increasing aid is the only way to prevent further worsening of famine among the residents of the Gaza Strip.
It added: What we need is no less than 500-600 trucks daily of essential goods for the Gaza Strip.
It continued: We reiterate the call for a long-term ceasefire in Gaza to alleviate the suffering of the hungry and ensure a continuous flow of essential supplies.
It said: We hope to be allowed to bring in thousands of trucks loaded with food and medicine that are currently in Jordan and Egypt.
