Netherlands Includes Israel for the First Time on List of Countries Threatening the Nation

SadaNews - The National Security Agency in the Netherlands has listed Israel for the first time as one of the countries threatening the nation.

According to Dutch websites, the agency published a report today, Sunday, titled "Assessment of Threats from State Actors," highlighting Israel's attempts to influence Dutch public opinion and the political decision-making process through the dissemination of misleading information.

The report provided several examples, including a document distributed last year by an Israeli ministry to Dutch politicians and journalists through unofficial channels, which contained unusual and invasive personal information about Dutch citizens, amid tensions sparked by a protest from supporters of the Maccabi Tel Aviv football team in Amsterdam during that time.

The agency expressed growing concern about the increasing threats from both Israel and the United States directed against the International Criminal Court based in The Hague. The report warns that such pressure threatens to undermine the court's operations.

It clarified that as the host country for major international legal bodies, the Netherlands has a "special responsibility" to protect their work from external interference.

On November 21, 2024, the Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war on Gaza.

Previous reports by the agency had raised concerns about Israeli espionage programs; however, the new report avoided making a direct link between Israel and espionage activities.
