Qatar and Egypt Confirm Ongoing Mediation Efforts: Suspension of Negotiations for Consultations is a Natural Matter
SadaNews - Qatar and Egypt jointly issued a statement on Friday evening, confirming their ongoing genuine efforts in the mediation file concerning the Gaza Strip, aimed at reaching an agreement that would put an end to the war, alleviate the humanitarian suffering in the area, and ensure the protection of civilians as well as the exchange of detainees and prisoners.
They indicated that some progress had been made during the recent intensive round of negotiations, which lasted for three weeks, and affirmed that the suspension of negotiations for the purpose of consultations before resuming dialogue is a natural occurrence within the context of these complex negotiations.
They urged not to be swayed by leaks circulated by some media outlets in attempts to undermine these efforts and influence the course of the negotiation process, emphasizing that such leaks do not reflect reality and originate from parties not privy to the negotiations' progress.
Qatar and Egypt also called on international media to uphold responsibility and journalistic ethics, shedding light on the unprecedented suffering occurring in the sector, rather than playing a role in undermining efforts aimed at ending the war in the region.
The two countries, in partnership with the United States, reaffirmed their commitment to completing efforts towards achieving a comprehensive agreement for a ceasefire in the sector, as stated in the joint statement from Qatar and Egypt.
