Arab and International Welcoming of France's Decision Regarding Palestine

SadaNews - Many Arab and international countries welcomed France's announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia described the announcement as a "historic decision" that confirms "the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state."

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on X platform, "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomes the announcement made by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding his country's intention to recognize the sister State of Palestine," praising "this historic decision that affirms the international community's consensus on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to establish their independent state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital."

The Kingdom also renewed its "call for other countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to take such positive steps and serious positions supportive of peace and the rights of the Palestinian people."

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also welcomed the French announcement, considering it a step in the right direction towards realizing the two-state solution and ending the occupation.

The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Al-Quda, affirmed the Kingdom's appreciation for the French president's decision, viewing it as an important step to counter efforts to deny the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to embody their independent and sovereign state on their national soil. Ambassador Al-Quda added that this announcement aligns with international efforts aimed at recognizing the sovereign state of Palestine along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution and in accordance with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Ambassador Al-Quda emphasized the importance of the high-level international conference for the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which is scheduled to be held in New York, co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic, to gather international support for further recognition of the State of Palestine based on the two-state solution, as the only path to achieve just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.

Ambassador Al-Quda reaffirmed the Kingdom's steadfast position in continuing to work with Arab brothers and international partners to support the Palestinian people's right to freedom, end the occupation, and self-determination, and to embody their independent state on their national soil.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez welcomed France's joining the European countries that announced the recognition of the State of Palestine, affirming that this trend enhances the prospects for peace in the region.

He stressed the need for joint work to protect the two-state solution, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to undermine, noting that it remains the only option for achieving just and lasting peace, according to relevant agencies.

Irish Foreign Minister Simon Harris also welcomed France's announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine next September, considering this step an important contribution to achieving the two-state solution.

Harris stated that his country strongly supports international efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire, the release of prisoners, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the sector.
