Mustafa directs the preparation of a special program for urgent priorities to support citizens in targeted areas
SadaNews - Today, Thursday, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa chaired a meeting of the ministerial committee for emergency works in his office in Ramallah, to review the ongoing relief efforts and interventions addressing the effects of the ongoing Israeli aggression against our people, especially in the northern West Bank governorates.
The Prime Minister instructed the ministerial committee to prepare a special program for urgent and pressing priorities to support the resilience of farmers and citizens in the villages and towns subjected to the assaults of the occupation and settlers, and to secure the necessary funding for it, in order to expand the existing interventions currently led by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, and various partner entities.
Mustafa emphasized the necessity of uniting everyone's efforts in light of the difficult circumstances we live in, to support the resilience of our people in all governorates of the homeland, and to provide appropriate shelter for all families forced to leave their homes due to the aggression of the occupation, especially in the camps in the northern West Bank, considering this a top priority.
The meeting also included a review of the main interventions related to temporary shelter, relief, infrastructure, public services, employment, and economic relief, as well as the assaults on farmers and their properties, especially in the villages and towns near the settlements.
Regarding temporary shelter, the committee confirmed that it is completing its work to provide rental assistance for the displaced families that have not recently received these allocations, forced by the occupation to flee to the camps in Jenin and Tulkarem. Additionally, it is finalizing preparations to build a collective temporary shelter site in Jenin, which will begin implementation next week, and has discussed possible options for addressing the damaged homes and a program to house families whose homes have been demolished after the withdrawal of occupation forces from the camps they occupy.
In terms of relief, the committee indicated its continued provision of all necessary items, especially basic supplies for the displaced families who primarily rely on government support and public donations.
As for public services and infrastructure, the ministerial committee continues, despite the obstacles posed by the occupation, to repair the infrastructure and rehabilitate roads and electricity and water lines in some targeted areas, especially in the cities of Jenin and Tulkarem, in addition to continuing to provide health services for the displaced citizens through Ministry of Health facilities and the temporary UNRWA centers established in areas close to the camps.
Regarding employment and empowerment programs, the committee confirmed the significant positive impact these programs have had in alleviating the burden on citizens in light of the difficult conditions, stressing the need to expand them to include as many beneficiaries as possible, and to gather more support for these programs.
Regarding agricultural assaults, the committee emphasized the urgent need to provide resilience support for our people in the targeted areas, and the necessity to expand emergency interventions and secure more financial resources to deepen these interventions.
On the economic relief front, the committee clarified that work is underway to implement the recommendations of the damage assessment committee for commercial facilities affected by the occupation's assaults, especially in the governorates of Jenin and Tulkarem, in light of the financial capabilities allowed by the circumstances.
