US State Department Opens Investigation into Harvard University's Activities

SadaNews - The administration of US President Donald Trump continues its attack on the prestigious Harvard University, opening an investigation on Wednesday regarding its eligibility to participate in the visitor exchange program. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the opening of this investigation to assess the extent to which "Harvard complies with all rules, especially the implementation of its programs, in a way that does not undermine foreign policy objectives or the national security interests of the United States." He stated in a statement, "The American people have the right to expect their universities to protect national security, uphold the law, and provide a safe environment for all students." He added that the State Department's investigation "will allow verification that the programs (they sponsor) do not contradict our nation's interests." Since returning to the White House in January, President Donald Trump has accused America's oldest universities of providing a fertile environment for "woke" culture and of failing to adequately protect their Jewish or Israeli students during university protests calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, where the genocide continues. The US government has withdrawn more than $2.6 billion in federal grants from Harvard University and canceled its ability to benefit from the main system that allows foreign students to study in the United States. Harvard University, located near Boston in Massachusetts, has challenged these actions in court amid a situation that also serves as a test for other higher education institutions targeted by the Trump administration, such as Columbia University in New York. On Monday, with the opening of the first hearing before a local federal court, the US president attacked the judge assigned to the case through his social network "Truth Social," accusing the university of being "anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, and anti-America."
