Sheikh: The Knesset's Demand for the Occupation Government to Impose Israeli Sovereignty on the West Bank is a Serious Escalation that Undermines Peace Opportunities
SadaNews - Palestinian Vice President Mr. Hussein Sheikh stated that the Israeli Knesset's demand for the Israeli government to impose sovereignty over the West Bank represents not only a direct assault on the rights of the Palestinian people, but also a serious escalation that undermines the opportunities for peace and stability and the two-state solution based on negotiation, which imposes and protects regional security.
He added: "These unilateral Israeli actions grossly violate international law and the ongoing international consensus regarding the status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including the West Bank."
He called on the international community to uphold international legitimacy and its decisions, and to work to stop these violations and prevent the entrenchment of the reality of occupation by force. He also urged countries around the world to recognize the State of Palestine and condemn and denounce this decision.
