Update:: Weitkov on his way to the region.. Hebrew media: Israel awaits a response from Hamas tonight or tomorrow

SadaNews Translation - Israeli sources indicated this evening, Tuesday, that Hamas is likely to respond to the current proposal regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip tonight or tomorrow, while the U.S. State Department announced that envoy Steve Weitkov will travel to the Middle East.

According to the Hebrew Channel 13, as translated by SadaNews, a significant meeting will be held in Doha tonight regarding understanding the course of negotiations and working to resolve outstanding issues.

The channel quoted a source involved in the negotiations, as translated by SadaNews, saying that the issues are not fully resolved, however, there has been noticeable progress.

Israel expects to receive a positive response from Hamas, but it is conditioned on some amendments which could prolong the negotiations.

According to the channel, there is pressure from Qatar, Egypt, and the United States on Hamas to respond, noting that the U.S. administration has sent messages indicating that if there is no response soon, the U.S. will retract the guarantees it provided regarding what was previously agreed upon.

Meanwhile, Channel 12 reported that Israel hopes that Hamas's response will allow for progress in the negotiations, indicating that the negotiating team has been instructed to remain in Doha as long as there is a possibility of progress and breakthroughs.

Later, the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department announced that Weitkov will head to the Middle East to follow up on the ceasefire issue.

She pointed out that both parties (Hamas and Israel) agreed to establish a humanitarian corridor for aid to enter the Gaza Strip.

She said: We hope to achieve a ceasefire and open a humanitarian corridor for aid delivery, which both sides have agreed upon.

She added: We call for a humanitarian corridor that allows aid to enter Gaza without being stolen by Hamas.

She indicated that President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and envoy Weitkov hope to reach an agreement soon, and are optimistic about it.

Weitkov's actual arrival in the region is tied to greater progress in the ongoing negotiations in Doha.

If Weitkov arrives in Doha, he may be joined by a larger Israeli delegation headed by the chief negotiator, Minister Ron Dermer, accompanied by Mossad chief Dedi Barnea.
