Report: Israel Prepares for an Attack Scenario from Syria

SadaNews - The Hebrew website "Walla" reported that the Israeli army is preparing for a scenario of infiltration from Syria similar to the attack on October 7 by jihadists and Bedouin tribes, who may attempt to target nearby residential areas in the Golan Heights.

The report from "Walla," which is close to Israeli intelligence, stated: "While attention is focused on the Gaza Strip, especially with the start of ground operations in Deir al-Balah, the defense establishment is preparing for a scenario of infiltration across the Syrian border, similar to what happened on October 7, 2023, by global jihadists and Bedouins, including those who will attempt to target residential gatherings close to the fence in the Golan Heights."

An Israeli senior officer said: "We have long stopped defending from the border line, and our defense now extends from deep into Syria. We have constructed a barrier to prevent vehicles from crossing. We are also prepared for a scenario involving mechanized parachutes."

The report highlighted the increasing concern within the defense establishment regarding an Iranian infrastructure attempt to penetrate the buffer zone in the Syrian Golan Heights to launch an attack on Israeli army forces, by infiltrating armed militants with small trucks, similar to attacks on government institutions during the rule of Bashar al-Assad in the years preceding the fall of some areas under his control.

The Israeli occupation army does not rule out that some of these operations may include attacks on military sites, convoys, and patrols. The intelligence directorate and the operations unit (504) have recently intensified their activities in the area, including conducting arrests in Syrian villages, some of which have been reported in the media.

A senior officer in the northern sector told "Walla" that the numerous recent arrests have helped the Israeli army to draw a clear picture of the terrorism infrastructure. The northern command trained Division 210, in collaboration with the army's ministries and the intervention unit formed during the war, on the scenario of attempting to seize settlements.

According to the officer, the forces are training to direct air force planes to attack infiltrators within Israeli territory. He stated: "There are reserve forces in the rear, and we have constructed a barrier to the east to prevent vehicle crossings, and we have built fences, trenches, and a missile line, and even if they attempt to infiltrate us via mechanized parachutes, we are prepared even in the rear."
