Guterres: "The Last Lifelines" for Gaza Residents on the Brink of Collapse
SadaNews - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his "shock" at the humanitarian suffering in Gaza, where the "last lifelines keeping the population alive are on the verge of collapse," according to his spokesperson on Monday.
According to the "French Press Agency," spokesperson Stefan Dujarric stated: "The Secretary-General strongly condemns the ongoing violence, including the shooting and killing of individuals who are trying to obtain food for their families."
He added, "We deeply regret the numerous reports of children and adults suffering from malnutrition."
Guterres called for the protection of civilians in Gaza, emphasizing that they should never be targeted, and remarked that new Israeli evacuation orders are pushing people into "more miserable conditions" and obstructing the delivery of aid.
The UN Secretary-General concluded in the statement: "We are ready to significantly expand our humanitarian operations in Gaza, and it is time for a ceasefire."
