Statement from the Official Spokesperson of the Palestinian Security Forces
Sada News - The official spokesperson for the Palestinian Security Forces, Major General Anwar Rajab, stated the following:
Regarding the circulation on social media of names of several women purportedly involved in sorcery and witchcraft, the security institution urges respectable citizens to exercise caution in dealing with the inaccurate information shared on social media that affects the dignity and reputation of citizens. It confirms that it has initiated through the security apparatus investigations into the matter concerning an individual who published a list of names of women claiming they engaged in sorcery and witchcraft, which included threats and public extortion.
In this context, the security institution confirms that the names that have been circulated are not related, either closely or remotely, to these acts, and that their publication has caused severe harm to the families and households of many citizens, leading to serious social and familial problems.
While the security institution expresses its deep sorrow for the moral and psychological harm inflicted upon these citizens, it confirms that this issue is being monitored seriously, and that it will not tolerate any individual who promotes rumors, slanders, or assaults the dignity of citizens, or threatens civil peace and community security under any pretext.
It also calls on citizens not to circulate or repost any of these lists or the accompanying content, warning that those who are proven to be involved in this will face legal accountability.
