Zamir in Gaza: "Operational achievements" will radically transform our operational patterns and prepare for a deal
SadaNews - Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, stated during his assessment of the situation in the Gaza Strip that the "operational achievements" he counted as imposed by the occupying army; "will radically transform our operational patterns" and prepare for a deal that includes a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas.
Zamir made these remarks during a "field tour and assessment of the situation in the Gaza Strip with the Southern Command commander, the commander of the 98th Division, the commander of the 7th Brigade, the commander of the Fire Brigade (214), battalion leaders, and other commanders," according to a statement released by the occupying army this evening.
The statement noted that Zamir "conducted a reconnaissance tour deep into the Shujaiya area, spoke with battalion leaders regarding the achievements of Operation 'Gideon's Chariots', and discussed with them plans for continuing operations in the Gaza Strip."
Zamir said: "Our goals and the achievements you are making will bring about a security change for the coming years."
He added that what he described as operational achievements, which include "eliminating (fighters), destroying infrastructure above and below ground, and occupying and clearing vast areas; will enable us to bring about a radical transformation in our operational patterns."
The Chief of Staff continued: "We will establish new operational formations, through which we will enhance our superiority, reduce our weaknesses, and deepen our operational achievements. This will put Hamas in an increasing plight and reduce the erosion of our power.”
In the same regard, he said: "We have presented options to the political leadership, and we will lay the foundations for reality in accordance with our interests."
He mentioned that "achievements on the ground within the framework of Operation 'Gideon's Chariots' contribute to defeating Hamas and prepare for the possibility of a prisoner deal."
Zamir also addressed Syria, stating that "events in Syria, and the massacre of Druze in Sweida, prove once again that those who cannot defend themselves in the Middle East will not enjoy security."
He added that "terrorist organizations and jihadist elements pose a threat on all fronts and must be fought, as you do here."
