UK condemns Israeli announcement on settlements in E1 area of the West Bank, considers it undermining the two-state solution
SadaNews - A spokesperson for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office stated that the United Kingdom strongly opposes the announcement by the so-called Central Planning Bureau of the Israeli Civil Administration regarding the revival of the settlement plan in the E1 area, which has been frozen since 2021.
He added in a statement, "This plan includes the construction of over 3,000 settlement units in East Jerusalem, which means dividing the future Palestinian state into two parts, and this constitutes a gross violation of international law."
He continued, "If the settlement plan in E1 is implemented, it will severely undermine the two-state solution – which is the only path towards establishing lasting peace for both Israelis and Palestinians."
