Agreement to Halt Escalation in Syrian Suwaida
SadaNews - The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced today, Wednesday evening, that an agreement has been reached for an immediate halt to all military operations and for all parties to commit to stopping the escalation in Suwaida.
The ministry stated in a statement that it has been decided to form a committee that includes representatives from the state and the Druze leaders to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire.
It indicated that the agreement stipulates the deployment of security and police barriers with the participation of police officers from the people of Suwaida, noting that local officers and personnel from Suwaida will be utilized to take on leadership and executive responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the Druze sheikh, Youssef Jarboe, confirmed that an agreement has been reached with the Syrian authorities.
He indicated that this includes a complete halt to all military operations in Suwaida from all parties, adding that there has been an agreement on the full integration of Suwaida within the Syrian state.
