Sheikh Discusses with French Consul the Saudi-French Initiative to Hold an International Conference for Recognizing the State of Palestine
SadaNews - The Palestinian Vice President Mr. Hussein Sheikh met with the French Consul General Nicolas Cassianiades, accompanied by political advisor Pierre Arnaud Blanchard, to discuss the developments of the joint Saudi-French initiative to hold an international conference that would lead to the recognition of the State of Palestine.
During the meeting, Sheikh emphasized the importance of this initiative in light of ongoing Israeli stubbornness and escalating violations, stressing that the Palestinian people are looking forward to serious international action that guarantees their legitimate rights, foremost among which is the establishment of their independent state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Sheikh praised the advanced French role and the growing partnership between Paris and Riyadh in supporting the Palestinian cause on the international stage, calling for translating this initiative into concrete steps that end the occupation and achieve a just and lasting peace.
For his part, the French Consul General expressed the position of the French President Emmanuel Macron, indicating France's intention to recognize the Palestinian state next September.
