UNRWA: Israel Kills a Full Classroom of Children Daily in Gaza

SadaNews - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) estimated today, Tuesday, that Israel, the occupying power, kills the equivalent of a "full classroom of children" daily since October 7, 2023, where the number of students in a classroom ranges between 35 and 45.

Sam Rose, the director of UNRWA affairs in Gaza, stated in a statement: "Every day since the beginning of the war in Gaza, on average, the equivalent of a full classroom of children is killed."

Before the outbreak of the genocide that turned the majority of UNRWA schools into centers for the displaced, the number of students in a classroom ranged between 35-45, according to the state of overcrowding in the schools.

Children have paid a heavy price for the genocide being committed by Israel for more than 21 months, during which more than 18,000 children have been killed, and around 16,854 have been hospitalized, according to medical sources.

Children in the sector are living a bitter reality due to repeated waves of displacement, not to mention hunger and thirst resulting from the occupation's policy of destroying food and water sources and closing crossings.

On July 8, UNRWA stated that "children in Gaza constitute half of the population (which numbers 2.4 million), and their lives are marked by war and destruction."

The war on Gaza has resulted in more than 197,000 martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, along with over 11,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and starvation that claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
