Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Denies Reports of Palestinian-Israeli Meetings in Brussels

SadaNews - The political advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Dr. Ahmad Al-Diuk, denied that any meetings or sessions with the Foreign Minister of the occupying state are on the agenda for the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Farsein Agabkian to Brussels. Some media outlets and social media insist on being precise and cautious when circulating certain rumors and obtaining information and truth from their official sources.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that the minister will participate today in a joint meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the European Union and the Mediterranean neighboring countries, chaired by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs.

The meeting aims to launch a new charter for regional cooperation in the Mediterranean region, enhancing partnership between the southern and eastern Mediterranean countries and the EU member states in the areas of environment, economy, and business, serving security, peace, and sustainable development in the region. Several Foreign Ministers from Arab countries bordering the Mediterranean will also participate in the meeting, alongside EU member states of the Union for the Mediterranean.

Minister Shaheen will represent the State of Palestine at this meeting, where she will deliver a speech focusing on the suffering of the Palestinian people amid the ongoing genocide and displacement in the Gaza Strip, the systematic starvation practiced by the occupying state, and the financial blockade imposed on the Palestinian government by withholding clearance funds.

She will also address the escalating attacks by settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which occur under the protection and participation of the Israeli occupation forces, in addition to the blockade imposed on cities and camps in the northern West Bank, forced demolition and displacement operations, repeated attacks on Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem, and the gradual annexation crimes which are evident and undeclared in the West Bank.

Minister Shaheen is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with several Foreign Ministers from European countries, as well as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, to inform them about the developments on the ground and the war crimes and serious violations faced by the Palestinian people. The minister will demand an immediate halt to the crimes of genocide, displacement, and annexation, and compel the Israeli government to comply with the international peace will and open a political negotiation path to end the occupation and enable our people to exercise their right to self-determination.
