Borrell on Netanyahu: A War Criminal Wanted by International Justice Proposes Nobel Peace Prize for His Largest Arms Supplier
SadaNews - Former EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, criticized U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Borrell said in a tweet on his "X" account on Wednesday, "A war criminal wanted by international justice (Netanyahu) proposes to award the Nobel Peace Prize to his largest arms supplier (Trump), who is causing the largest ethnic cleansing in the region since the end of World War II."
Netanyahu announced that he had nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, presenting the Republican president, during a meeting at the White House, with a copy of the nomination letter he sent to the prize committee.
During a dinner with Trump at the White House, Netanyahu said that the U.S. president is "making peace at this moment, in one country after another, in one region after another."
In recent years, Trump has received numerous nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize from supporters and lawmakers loyal to him, for the prestigious award that he has never hidden his annoyance about not winning.
Trump has often complained about the Norwegian Nobel Committee's disregard for the efforts he made to resolve conflicts between India and Pakistan, as well as between Serbia and Kosovo.
He also claims credit for "keeping the peace" between Egypt and Ethiopia, as well as for sponsoring normalization agreements between Israel and many Arab countries.
Trump campaigned as a "peace maker" using his negotiation skills to end wars, especially in Ukraine and Gaza, but these conflicts remain ongoing more than five months after his return to the White House, with mass genocide occurring in Gaza supported and armed by the U.S.
The Israeli occupation has been waging a genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in over 194,000 Palestinians killed or injured, most of whom are children and women, with more than 10,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and famine that has claimed many lives, including children.
