World Food Program: One in Three People in Gaza Goes Days Without Food
SadaNews - The "World Food Program" confirmed today (Saturday) that one in three people in Gaza goes days without food, putting more people at risk of starvation.
A statement from the UN-affiliated program indicated that more than 700,000 people have been forced to flee since March, while reports show that about 85 percent of the Gaza Strip is a zone of active conflict.
The program emphasized its continued efforts to provide humanitarian assistance within Gaza, despite the "deteriorating security situation, difficulties in access, and the growing number of those in need of food aid."
It added that it has 140,000 metric tons of food in the region, enough to feed all of Gaza's population, and aims to deliver 2,000 metric tons of food assistance daily to the enclave, in agreement with Israel.
The "World Food Program" confirmed that Israel has provided written guarantees for the entry of more aid and the use of additional border crossings in Gaza, however, the amount of food being distributed in Gaza is still far less than the population's needs.
