Hamas Responds to the Proposal and Trump Describes It as Good
SadaNews - Hamas provided its response last night to the proposal made by mediators regarding a 60-day ceasefire.
The movement stated in a statement published last night that it has completed its internal consultations and discussions with factions regarding the proposal, and has delivered its response to the mediators, noting that its response was characterized by positivity.
Hamas confirmed that it is seriously ready to immediately enter into a round of negotiations regarding the implementation mechanism of this framework.
The proposal is referred to as a "Framework Agreement" which will pave the way for rapid negotiations through which the agreement will be announced if consensus is reached on certain contentious points that were described as ordinary and not fundamental.
Hamas demands the free flow of aid and the cancellation of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s operation or the condition of distributing aid through it, as well as the opening of the Rafah crossing for the travel of Gazans, especially the sick, in addition to establishing clear plans for Israeli withdrawal and ensuring access to a final ceasefire.
Doha or Cairo may host the anticipated indirect negotiations, which could start on Sunday with the presence of the Israeli side and Hamas leadership.
Israel has not officially responded to Hamas's reply thus far and has only confirmed that it is studying it.
U.S. President Donald Trump commented on Hamas's response, saying: "Well, that’s good."
He added: "A ceasefire agreement in Gaza may be reached this week, but I have not been briefed on the current state of negotiations."
He continued: "We need to do something regarding Gaza, and we are sending a lot of money and a lot of aid."
He concluded by saying to reporters: "There could be an agreement in Gaza this week, and I am very optimistic."
