Netanyahu: I Will Meet President Trump Next Week at the White House
SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: "I will meet next week with President Donald Trump and American officials at the White House."
He added: "I will discuss several files with President Trump before reaching a trade agreement, in addition to other matters."
Axios reported from an Israeli official that Trump will host Netanyahu in Washington, in their third meeting since the Republican president returned to office in January. The official explained that Trump aims to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of Israeli prisoners.
White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that Netanyahu expressed his desire to meet with Trump. She noted that Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer preceded Netanyahu to Washington this week for meetings with senior White House officials.
Trump had indicated that a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is "near" and could be implemented "next week," emphasizing that ending the war in Gaza is a priority for his administration.
Netanyahu and Trump's talks are expected to cover other topics, most notably advancing normalization agreements, as U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff stated that Washington is preparing to announce soon a "significant agreement" for the inclusion of new countries into the Abraham Accords.
The meeting is also likely to address the issue of Iran, amidst Israeli concerns over the potential rebuilding of Iran's nuclear program following recent strikes, and threats to prevent Tehran from resuming its nuclear activities.
