Qassem: The Memorandum of Understanding Between Washington and Tehran is an Official Declaration of America and Israel's Defeat

SadaNews - The Secretary-General of the "Hezbollah" group, Naim Qassem, considered on Friday that the memorandum of understanding signed between Tehran and Washington is an official declaration of the "defeat" of the United States and Israel, after it established a ceasefire in Lebanon that is still holding despite violations.

In a speech delivered during the commemoration of Ashura by tens of thousands of supporters of the Iranian-backed party in southern Beirut suburb, Qassem said in a speech broadcasted by the party's "Al-Manar" channel: "It is a major war and a great danger that they wanted to eliminate our existence," according to what was reported by the "France Press Agency".

He added: "We were able to stop this aggression and achieve a great accomplishment... We have broken the Israeli-American project and entered a new phase," noting Iran's "steadfastness" which "was able to reach the memorandum of understanding, which is an official declaration of America and Israel's defeat."

Qassem emphasized that there is "no choice" for Israel but to withdraw "unconditionally" from southern Lebanon, asserting that there will be "no normalization" with it, at a time when the two countries are engaged in direct negotiations brokered by the U.S., the first in decades.

He said: "Israel has no choice but to completely withdraw from every inch of our Lebanese land... Israel must leave without any conditions."

He confirmed that "any commitment against the sovereignty of Lebanon will not pass and no one has the right to sign anything or accept anything," while Lebanese and Israeli delegations are holding a round of negotiations in Washington aimed at ending the war, adding: "No normalization, no cancellation of the state of hostility, no gains for Israel, and no partial presence on Lebanese soil. Israel must leave humiliated and defeated, and this will happen."
