Election Commission: The Electoral Campaign Phase Ends at Midnight Tonight

SadaNews - The Central Election Commission stated today, Thursday, that the electoral campaign phase for the 2026 local elections will end at twelve o'clock midnight tonight, after extending for 14 days, in accordance with the provisions of the law and the approved timeline for the electoral process.

The commission called, in a press statement, for the candidate lists in the municipal bodies and the candidates in the village councils to adhere to stopping all forms and activities of electoral campaigning starting from this date, whether in the field or via social media, including on the day of electoral silence (Friday) and on the election day (Saturday), as any promotional activity is prohibited during these times, as stipulated by the law and regulatory instructions.

It emphasized that the silence period aims to provide a calm and neutral environment that enables voters to make their decisions freely, away from any promotional influences or pressures, thereby enhancing the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring equal opportunities among the lists and candidates.

It stressed the importance of continuing to comply with the provisions of the law and regulatory instructions during the election day, ensuring that the electoral process proceeds smoothly and regularly, contributing to the success of this national entitlement, and enhancing citizens' confidence in the electoral process and its results.
